Tom Coleman
Celebrated US potter Tom Coleman was featured artist at the 1994 FUSION Conference in Toronto. Today, Tom Coleman enjoys a world wide reputation as a studio potter and ceramic sculptor, based on thirty five years of working in clay as a full time artist. Returning to FUSION in 2009 by popular demand, Coleman will share the stage with Meira Mathison of B.C. Having persisted as a potter since 1966, first in Oregon and now in Henderson, Nevada, Coleman’s work is comprised of wood-fired pieces with ash glazes or multiple-sprayed glazes, as well as sculptural work and sculptural vessels. Images of Coleman’s work have been published in over 20 issues of Ceramics Monthly dating to 1977. Coleman is renowned for his entertaining workshops given across the US and in Canada.

Meira Mathison
Canadian potter Meira Mathison has maintained a studio, Dancerwood Pottery, in Victoria, B.C. for over 30 years. For the past 28 years she has conducted workshops in Canada, U.S.A., England and Mexico. Meira sells her unique high-fired altered porcelain through galleries in Canada and the US. Her work has been featured in “Clay and Glazes” by Daniel Rhodes; “500 Bowls”, “500 Cups”,“500 T-Pots”,“500 Pitchers” by Lark Publication; “Pots in the Kitchen” by Josie Walter, “Making Marks”and “Ceramic Spectrum” by Robin Hopper and “The T-Pot Book by Steve Woodhead.
For several years Coleman and Mathison have collaborated as colleagues, she as administrator and he as presenter, to provide workshops in ceramics at MISSA in Metchosin, B.C.
